Shimane Prefecture designated February 22 as "Takeshima Day" and held a commemorative ceremony in the city of Matsue, where Party Organization and Campaign Headquarters Chairperson Taimei Yamaguchi spoke on behalf of the LDP. In his remarks, Chairperson Yamaguchi expressed his resolve to "achieve the return of Takeshima as an undertaking by all of Japan." The ceremony was followed by public speeches during which Party legislators spoke about their ideas for a solution.
