LDP becomes the first Japanese political party to hold a "Twitter Townhall" meeting

On August 23, LDP held a twitter town meeting at LDP Headquarters where Party President Sadakazu Tanigaki responded to questions via twitter. The event was modeled after President Obama's Twitter Townhall held at the White House in July and was the first time it had been attempted by a Japanese political party. It was also webcast on the LDP's "Nikoniko Ustream." During the ninety-minute meeting, President Tanigaki candidly responded to a myriad of questions. Responding to the question, "What are you LDP doing at this crucial moment?", President Tanigaki explained LDP's measures to cope with the post-disasters including a basic recovery and reconstruction plan that was introduced into the parliament by the LDP.
