Director-General Tanahashi pays a courtesy call on Permanent Member Truong Tan Sang, Future President of Viet Nam

On June 2, Yasufumi Tanahashi, Director-General of the International Bureau paid a courtesy call on Mr. Truong Tan Sang, Permanent Member of the Secretariat, Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee. Mr Sang, who is in line to become the next President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, began an official visit to Japan on June 1.

Permanent Member Truong Tan Sang expressed his sympathy regarding the recent tragedies to hit Japan. “ I am confident that the Japanese people will be able to overcome the destruction and misery caused by the earthquake and tsunami and achieve progress toward reconstruction in the coming months.” He added that he looked forward to the partnership of the two countries contributing to the development of prosperity and peace in Asia.
Director-General Yasufumi Tanahashi handed a personal letter from President Sadakazu Tanigaki of the Liberal Democratic Party to Mr. Sang, and then thanked him saying, “We are grateful for receiving much support and many heartfelt messages sent by the people of Viet Nam.”
