Prime Minister Abe receives a courtesy call from IMF Director Christine Lagarde: "We have built a strong Cabinet committed to moving forward on economic policies"

Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde, who was in Japan for a review of the country's economic policies. He discussed with her the formation of a strong Cabinet committed to tackling deflation and the declining birthrate and aging population, and explained the current state of the Japanese economy, noting the steady growth in tax revenue. He also expressed his commitment to providing greater roles for women, mentioning Japan's new record of five female vice ministers, and highlighted programs to alleviate the problem of child daycare waitlists.
