Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe attended a trilateral summit with Premier Li Keqiang of China and President Moon Jae-In of the Republic of Korea, followed by a joint press conference. It was the first time the three leaders had met in two and a half years, and they confirmed that they would cooperate on programs such as people-to-people exchange related to the Olympics and Paralympics, and also on the full denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Prime Minister Abe additionally called on the leaders of China and the Republic of Korea to provide assistance for the early resolution of the abduction problem and obtained their understanding.
