Advocating for "a robust Asia that does not give in to terrorism" at the EAS

Attending the East Asia Summit (EAS) for the sixth time, Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe underscored the importance of "a robust Asia that does not give in to terrorism." He also called on countries to promote the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy" as a means of achieving peace and stability. The strategy, he said, includes: (1) free navigation and establishment of the rule of law; (2) building "quality infrastructure;" and (3) capacity-building for the enforcement of maritime law, humanitarian aid, and emergency relief.
