An Indonesian delegation led by Vice President Muhammad Yusuf Kalla (President of Golkar Party) visited Japan and met with LDP Secretary General Takebe.

January 23, 2006

A delegation led by Indonesian Vice President Muhammad Yusuf Kalla (President of Indonesia's ruling Golkar Party) visited Japan recently and paid a courtesy call on LDP Secretary General Tsutomu Takebe, Director General Kisaburo Tokai and Deputy Director General Yoshimi Watanabe of the International Bureau. Talks were held in the National Diet building on January 23.
Mr. Takebe has long promoted exchanges between Japan and Indonesia, for example, by sending Party delegates to attend an international symposium hosted by the Golkar Party in Jakarta last November. This time, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Golkar Party and the Liberal Democratic Party at the meeting, where both parties committed themselves and their governments to continue the excellent cooperation into the future.
Later that day, a welcome reception for Vice President Muhammad Yusuf Kalla was held and Party officials, Secretary General Takebe and many other Diet members including freshmen attended the reception, and exchanged frank opinions with the Indonesian delegation including Vice President and other Indonesian cabinet ministers. Japan and Indonesia as well as the two parties further deepened their bonds of friendship.
