Ambassadors from Arab countries pay a courtesy visit to Secretary General Abe

On the 2nd of April Ambassadors from the Arab states of Tunisia, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, Algeria, Syria, Palestine and Egypt paid a courtesy visit to Secretary General Abe Shinzo at the LDP Headquarters in Nagatacho. The discussions focused on the continuing tension in the Middle East, and an exchange of opinions was held.
Central to the discussion was the recent assassination of the Palestinian spiritual leader Yassin by Israeli militants. Each Ambassador confirmed that the situation in the Middle East had worsened on almost every front since the incident.
The Ambassadors expressed their hopes that Japan would take initiative in the Middle East peace process, and specifically requested their desire for Japan to intervene in the conflict as soon as possible and to "make use of its powerful influence in the region."
In response, Secretary General Abe declared that Japan would keep in mind the difficulty Middle Eastern states are facing and would "use its influence in the region to respond accordingly".

 



South Korean Ambassador to Japan pays a series of visits to LDP officials

On the 5th of April the newly-appointed Ambassador to Japan from South Korea, Mr. Ra Jong-Yil, paid visits to LDP Secretary General Abe Shinzo and LDP General Council Chairman Horiuchi Mitsuo. An expert in foreign affairs, Mr. Ra Jong-Yil's positions have included serving as the Ambassador to England and most recently as the Prime Minister's National Security Advisor. In the context of the abduction issue, Mr. Ra Jong-Yil has shown his support for LDP Secretary General Abe's position in discussions and exchanges of opinion.
At this meeting, exchanges of opinion were held on issues such as the future of the Japan-Korea relationship, the possibility of concluding a Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, and also the problem of North Korea.

 



Iranian Ambassador to Japan pays a visit to Secretary General Abe

On the 7th of April the Iranian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Ali Majedi, paid a courtesy visit to LDP Secretary General Abe Shinzo at the LDP Headquarters in Nagatacho.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the deepening friendship and economic ties between Japan and Iran. He also thanked the Secretary General for the fundraising campaign the LDP organized after the earthquake suffered by Iranians last December.

 



The Italian Ambassador to Japan pays a visit to the Director-General of the LDP's International Bureau

On the 9th of April Mr. Mario Vova, the Italian Ambassador to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to Endo Takehiko, Director-General of the LDP's International Bureau.
An exchange of opinions was held about the relationship of friendship between Italy and Japan, and also about the present situation in China.
