LDP's Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mr. Kong Xuanyou, the newly appointed ambassador to Japan from the People's Republic of China. The new ambassador, who returned to Japan for the first time in eight years since his previous assignment as a diplomat, spoke in fluent Japanese about his desire to build a new era in Japan-China relations. As they exchanged a firm handshake, Secretary-General Nikai expressed his own ambitions: "It is a pleasure to welcome a new ambassador, and the ruling party will do everything it can to further develop friendly relations between Japan and China."
