Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe attended the 21st ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) Plus Three (Japan, China and South Korea) Summit. During the meeting, Mr. Abe asked the other nations to strengthen regional cooperation on combatting the increasingly serious issue of marine plastic debris. He also advocated the promotion of the development of quality infrastructure that ensures openness, transparency, economic efficiency, and the scientifically-based elimination and relaxation of restrictions on Japanese-produced food that were imposed by some countries in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
