Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe met with President Xi Jinping and expressed his desire to build a stable, friendly relationship and to overcome issues between the two countries through a mutually beneficial relationship based on common strategic interests. The two leaders agreed to accelerate discussions aimed at early deployment of a Marine and Air Communications Mechanism between Japan and China's defense organizations to avoid unanticipated situations in, for example, the area around the Senkaku Islands.
