Mr. Nakayama thanked the visitors for the hospitality the LDP delegation received when they attended the United Russia Party Congress December last. In reply, Mr. Nefedov emphasized the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity to promote exchange among the young generations of Japanese and Russian legislators. The two sides candidly discussed a broad range of subjects including Japan’s investment in Russia, their countries’ relations with neighboring nations, Japan’s electoral system and the prospects for the upcoming House of Councilors election this summer. All participants agreed that the Russian visit to Japan will serve as the catalyst for the deepening of bilateral relations. |
